Cancer!
The Waymart
Volunteer Fire Company is selling Pink "Firefighters for a
cure" shirts to support Breast Cancer! The WVFC will be
making absolutely $0 profit on these shirts. Proceeds
will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation! The prices

Fire Prevention Week is almost here!
Fire Prevention Week is almost upon us. This is from October
9 - 15th. During this week, the Waymart Volunteer Fire Co
will be conducting Fire Prevention Week presentations for
all different age groups throughout our coverage area. This
years topic through the NFPA is
"Protect your family from fire" Come join us on
October 9th at the start of Fire Prevention Week for our
annual Fire Prevention Week Breakfast!

Hurricane Irene Response.
On Sunday August 28, Crews from Station 75 staffed the
station for over 12 hours and responded to 29 incidents
while Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast. Thank you to all
our members who helped out!
Crews respond to working car fire!
On July 22, Station 75 and Waymart EMS
were dispatched at 2:40 am for a reported vehicle fire on
Farview mountain near Gibney's with possible entrapment.
Mobile 9 arrived to find a fully involved car fire with no
entrapment. Rescue and Tanker 75 responded with a full crew.
Rescue 75 arrived on scene and immediately started to
extinguish the fire. Tanker 75 placed a second hand line in
service for backup. Crews quickly worked and had the fire
under control in about 10 minutes. Overhaul went in progress
and crews returned to service.

Read the following stories:
June 28 - At 7:26 am the Station 75 was dispatched for a cat stuck in a tree. Rescue 75 responded. Crews returned about 1 1/2 hours after dispatch. the cat was down, safe, and in the hands of the owners.
July 15 - At 12:24 Station 75 was dispatched via private line for a dog locked in a car. Brush 75 responded. The car was successfully unlocked and the dog returned safely to his owner.

a FEMA
(Assistance to
Firefighters)
Grant for
two-thirds
(2/3) the cost
towards the
purchase of a
new Fire Engine.
The new Engine,
when placed in
service, will be
replacing
two (2) trucks,
the 1981
American
LaFrance Engine
and the
1989 PemFab
Rescue truck.
The new truck is
being built by
Rosenbauer and
will serve us
for many years
to come. This
would not be
possible without
your continued
support.
This will be the
first new fire
engine since the
Company
purchased the
International in
1969 and the
second new truck
since the
purchase of the
1976 Kenworth
Tanker.
Waymart Vol Fire
Co now has AED's!
The Waymart Volunteer Fire Company Recently purchased two Phillips Hearstart AED's with raised funds from a senior project of member Natasha Megivern. One will be placed in the station and one on the fire truck...The WVFC-Station 75 strives to do anything possible for the people we serve! Thank you for your continued support!
75 ATV back in service and needed already for search!
Recently, Station 75 received a 2011 Kawasaki Terex. This is through a loaner program from Rusty Palmer's. This machine went into service in early June.
On June 27, Station 75 was requested to send the Brush, ATV, and manpower for a wilderness search in Fell Twp. for a lost ATV rider and a second ATV accident victim with burns from his ATV that caught fire Members worked with other Lackawanna and Susquehanna Co. crews. After searching over 3 hours, the pt was found approx 200 ft down a ravine where crews worked together on a high angle rescue to package and remove the victim. Once out of the densely wooded area, the pt was taken to CMC for treatment. Shortly before 4am, Command 61 released all companies with the 75 crew returning back to the station safely.
Two members complete Wild land Training
Members Jeff Buli and Shawn Vinton recently took a PA130 and S190 class in Maplewood followed by a arduous pack test which consisted of a 3 mile walk with 45 lbs. of weight on your back in under 45 mins. This was then followed by a 3 day wild land class held at camp K in Millmont. The camp consisted of more classes and field exercises which included digging fire line through Snyder Middleswarth state forest. Members slept in tents for the two nights and all classes were held in tents . At the completion of this adventure both members made it as a part of the PA state wild land team and Federal wild land team to go within the 48 states.
Station 75 trains with Honesdale's new Ladder!
On Wednesday , May 25, 2011 Station 75 crews trained with Company 13. The brand new 13 tower/ladder 4 traveled to Waymart to join in a night of training. We spent the night at Camp Ladore learning all about their new truck. All of Waymart Fire Co would like to thank Honesdale Fire Dept for joining us for training and we would also like to congratulate you on the purchase of your new Ladder Truck!
Fire Alarm & MVA with entrapment on Sunday Afternoon
On Sunday afternoon , May 8, 2011. Company 75 was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm at The Manor at Waymart. The alarm sent Rescue 75, Tanker 75, and Waymart EMS. While enroute, Wayne Communications advised that the maintenance staff was working on one of the rooms and set off the alarm. After a face-to-face with the head of maintenance, Chief 75 put all units back in service.
While everyone was settling down for dinner, Company 75, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatched for a 1 car MVA with entrapment on the Owego Turnpike. Rescue 75 and Chief 75 were on the street within minutes. While enroute, com center advised that Waymart EMS was responding from the city. Chief 75 requested a helicopter to be put on standby. All 75 units arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle on its side with 1 occupant entrapped. The Rescue crew went to work stabilizing the vehicle with cribbing and z-mags. The crew then cut A-post and roof at the B-Post using the sunroof as a cut point. Mobile 9 handled patient care and cancelled the helicopter. Patient was extricated and handed over to Mobile 9. Mobile 9 and Waymart EMS transported patient to CMC hospital . 75 crews remained on scene to handle traffic control. Good job to all on scene.
Company 43 box draws Full Response from 75!
On Thursday evening, March 24, 2011, Station 75 was dispatched Full Response along with Company 43 and their first alarm box assignment for a possible structure fire on creek drive in Prompton. First arriving units reported a working structure fire. Rescue and Tanker 75 responded. Rescue 75 layed 1100ft of LDH 5'' Hose to supply water to the scene and was the 2nd due engine on scene. Spring snow storm equals busy day for crews
On March 21, 2011, The "First day of Spring" snowstorm was a busy day for Station 75. We operated on 3 different motor vehicle accidents and operated on Farview Mountain. There were many cars and tractor trailers stuck, crews had the mountain shut down for some of the morning.
Station 75 runs brush fire
On March 20, 2011, Station 75 was dispatched along with Station 43, and Engine 41 for a brush fire on Elk Lake Drive. 75 Brush arrived on scene, extinguished the fire, and returned all other units. Units that operated on scene were Brush 75, Tanker 75, and Waymart EMS.
Cub Scouts visit the fire station
On March 14, 2011, Some Cub Scouts came to visit our fire station. They were shown different equipment firefighters use and the fire trucks.

The driver was
not injured ...and
all returned
safely. Shortly after
returning,
Station 75 was
sent to the same
area for a 2nd
accident. Fire
Police directed
traffic around
the scene
keeping 1 lane
open. The driver
had minor
injuries and
everyone
returned safely
at 1:30am from
both calls.
