Waymart Volunteer Fire

On September
18, 1925 the town counsel of
Waymart met to discuss the need
for a fire company. A motion was
made to create an organization
called the Waymart Volunteer
Fire Company. In 1925 the first
set of Line
Officers went as follows:

For the
first few years, the fire
company met in the town hall
until the fire hall was built in
1928. This new fire hall that
was built is pictured below.

The first
meeting to be held in this fire
hall was on June 11, 1928.
In June
1965, the Waymart Volunteer Fire
Company purchased a lot from
member M.L. Kennedy across from
Vail's Gas Station on Carbondale
Road in Waymart, for the
location of the new fire hall.
A picture of this hall being
built is below.

This hall
was fully constructed and funded
by volunteers. In April 1967,
the hall was totally finished
and the trucks were moved into
the new hall.
