WVFC hosts Structural Burn Session....
As a part of the FF1 recruit class being hosted by the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company, there was a Structural Burn Session held at the Monroe Burn Center on Sunday, November 22, 2009.
 
The FF1 class is coming to an ending shortly. The burn session was the last part of the recruit class. Shortly, the participants will be doing a written and practical test.

Turkey Party a success!
Thank you to everyone who made our annual Turkey Party a great success. During the night, 120 turkeys and 75 capons were raffled off. Again, Thank you for all who supported us!
 
Station 75 assists on early morning structure fire!
On the morning of November 4, 2009, Station 75 Rescue, Engine, and Tanker were dispatched to assist Station 43 on a working structure fire on Burns Road in Clinton Township. First arriving units on scene reported a trailer that was well involved with fire. Rescue 75 responded with a crew of 5 and 75 Tanker also responded. Upon arrival on scene, Rescue 75 crews were asked to make an interior attack on Side C (charlie) of the building. Crews worked on scene until released by 43 command.
 
Story from Station 43:
 
The lone occupant of a mobile home located at 258 Burns Road in Clinton Township narrowly escaped for a fire just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4.   The fire resulted in heavy fire damage to the trailer. 

Wayne County Communications Center dispatched the box assignment at 02:41 hours. The occupant reportedly was awakened by alarming  smoke detectors and escaped  the fire through a bedroom window. 

He successfully self evacuated himself out a bedroomm window and was outside the structure when the first due engine company, Engine 94, arrived.  The injured man was treated on scene and was transported to Marion Community Hospital by Waymart  EMS.

The fire was brought under control in about fifteen minutes. The fire was declared out at 05:05 hours with command (Chief 43) releasing all companies.

The fire is under investigation by the PSP Fire Marshal.
