Waymart Masons Hold Chicken BBQ
The Waymart Masons Lodge #542 held their 14th annual chicken barbecue Sunday at the Waymart Fire Hall. The first place raffle prize was a motorcycle that was donated by Baer Sport Center. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIEF
The members of the Waymart Fire Company want to wish our fire chief, Tom Derrick, a safe and Happy Birthday which is on January 26. We ask if you see Tom out and about, that you wish him a happy birthday.
 
Congratulations to Mr. August
Our Fire Chief, Tom Derrick, was recently nominated for firefighter of the year. After the votes were counted, Mike Bryant won FF of the year. As one of the nominees, Chief Derrick is Mr. August in this years 2008 CALENDAR OF LOCAL HEROES presented by the Weekly Almanac.
 
OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE ROBESON FAMILY
Long-time Fire Capt. of the Scranton Fire Dept. James Robeson died fighting a blaze Sunday morning.
The officers and members of the WVFC would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Robeson family. We also would ask that everyone keeps the Robeson family and all the other families affected by this terrible ordeal in their thoughts and prayers.

Waymart Firefighters shovel all fire hydrants
Many members of the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company spent their Wednesday evening cleaning out fire hydrants all around Waymart. We ask that if you live near a fire hydrant, that you would be so kind and shovel around it just in case of a real emergency.

Three members finish Pump Ops 1 Class
Firefighters, Kristian Short, Jordan Thompson, and Steve Piotrowski successfully finished the Pump Ops. 1 class that Browndale Fire Company held this past weekend.
