Waymart Masons Hold Chicken BBQ

Congratulations to Mr. August
Our Fire Chief, Tom Derrick, was recently nominated for firefighter of the year. After the votes were counted, Mike Bryant won FF of the year. As one of the nominees, Chief Derrick is Mr. August in this years 2008 CALENDAR OF LOCAL HEROES presented by the Weekly Almanac.
 
OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE ROBESON FAMILY
Long-time Fire Capt. of the Scranton Fire Dept. James Robeson died fighting a blaze Sunday morning.
The officers and members of the WVFC would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Robeson family. We also would ask that everyone keeps the Robeson family and all the other families affected by this terrible ordeal in their thoughts and prayers.

Waymart Firefighters shovel all fire hydrants
Many members of the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company spent their Wednesday evening cleaning out fire hydrants all around Waymart. We ask that if you live near a fire hydrant, that you would be so kind and shovel around it just in case of a real emergency.

Three members finish Pump Ops 1 Class
Firefighters, Kristian Short, Jordan Thompson, and Steve Piotrowski successfully finished the Pump Ops. 1 class that Browndale Fire Company held this past weekend.

Annual Ham Party - Goes Well
The Waymart Volunteer Fire Company would like to thank everyone who came
out to help and/or support us at our 7th Annual Ham Raffle that was recently
held on March 15, 2008. We raffled 72 hams, 35 chickens and numerous
50-50's. We would also like to thank the businesses, namely, The
Crossroads, The Gravity Inn, Waymart Building Center, Waymart Milling,
Antler Ridge Winery, O'Neill's Construction and NEP Telephone, who donated
door prizes. We would also like to thank the Waymart Hotel for their pizza
donation as well as Kerry Lombardi and her family for the donation of
cupcakes. Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their continued
support.

On March 12, 2008 Steve Piotrowski, webmaster of the WVFC website, entered the website www.waymartfire.com in the Great Valley Computer Website Contest. Out of 16 entries, this website came in 3rd place.

Motorcycle Accident on 296 South
The morning of April 24, Station 75, Waymart Ambulance, and Mobile 9 were dispatched to a 2 car MVA rollover at the four corners in Waymart. There was no entrapment with minor injuries. On this day, Station 75 was also dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Sponia Camp Building.
Burn Ban in Waymart!!!!
John Millard, Mayor of Waymart, has announced that open burning is prohibited in the Borough of Waymart, This is pursuant to Chapter 7 of the Waymart Code of Ordinances (Information from Wayne Independent).
 
Hectic Sunday!! Breakfast Buffet and MVA
On Sunday, April 20, 2008, was our annual breakfast buffet and during that, there was a MVA. Details on both listed below.
Breakfast Buffet   MVA on Route 6
 
Our Annual Breakfast Buffet turned out very nice. We had many customers throughout the morning. We would like to thank all the people who showed up to help!   Station 75, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatched for a reported 1 car MVA in the area of 1142 Roosevelt Highway. Chief 75 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle off the roadway on its side, with the patient self-extricated. Rescue 75 pulled a inch and a half line for a possible fire hazard. Waymart EMS assessed the patient and cancelled Mobile 9 while they were en-route. The patient refused all medical treatment, walking away with a scratch on his finger. Unite remained on scene until Northeast Towing removed the vehicle. Click here for more pictures
 
 
Busy Week for 75!!

He did it again! Congratulations Steve!
On Monday April 14, 2008, Webmaster Steve Piotrowski was in another website competition. This one was the NEIU 19 competition held at the Career Technology Center in Scranton. Once again, Steve placed 3rd in this competition out of 20 other websites! Great job Steve!
 
CONGRATULATIONS CHIEF!!!
Today, Saturday, April 12, 2008, our fire Chief Tom Derrick passed his First Responder Class that was held at Cottage Hose Ambulance. Congrats from all of us Chief!!!
 
Training held with Companies 1 & 94
On Wednesday night (April 2, 2008), A training was held in Waymart. There were numerous operations taking place during this night. The units on this training were engine 75, rescue 75, tanker 75, Lake Ariel supply, Lake Ariel tanker, and 94 tanker.
 
Busy Sunday for 75
On Sunday, March 30, Station 75 ran 4 calls consisting of a possible structure fire, and 3 brush fires. Station 75 started out their Sunday morning with a possible structure fire on Gravity Street in Waymart. Luckily it ended up being a slight furnace malfunction, but everything was ok. Then, we got hit with 3 brush fires right in a row. The first one was a small field fire on Florence Street in Waymart. The second, we assisted Station 62 on the large brush fire on Salem Mountain, then the third was a small brush fire on Lake Quinn Road in South Cannan. This day brought Station 75 up to 62 calls for the year, 6 of them being brush fires. Pictures to come soon
 
Station 75 goes to Honesdale for Parade
On Monday May 26, 2008, Memorial Day. Tanker 75, Engine 75, and Brush 75 went to Honesdale for their Memorial Day Parade.
 
 
75 crews work coin drop and MVA

During this holiday weekend, crews from Station 75 worked all of Friday and Saturday at our coin drop. We would like to thank everybody who helped or contributed.  
  On Saturday May 24, 2008, during the coin drop, Station 75, Waymart Ambulance, and Mobile 9 were dispatched for a one car MVA into a deer on Farview Mountain.
 
Car fire on Wednesday night!
On the night of May 21, 2008, Station 75 and Waymart EMS were dispatched for a car fire on Davitt Road. Fire was extinguished before units arrived on scene.
 
 
Possible Chimney fire in Browndale is the first call for the new Rescue 75 and brings Station 75 to 100 calls for the year!
On the night of May 16, 2008, Station 75 was dispatched to assist Company 43 and their 1st alarm box assignment on a possible chimney fire on White Rock Drive. This was the first call for our new rescue truck, and this call brought us to a 100 calls for the year. We were cancelled enroute.
 
Mock Car Accident Held at Western Wayne High School!
On Thursday May 15, 2008 the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company, Waymart Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company worked together to show the students at WWHS a mock car accident. We did this in light of what has and what can happen in case of an accident, because the prom at the high school is this weekend. Station 75 does hose training
On Wednesday night, June 25, 2008 Station 75 did some hose training at R.D. Wilson School.
 
Another early morning standby for Station 75!
On the morning of June 20, 2008 Rescue 75 was dispatched to standby at Station 62 (Whites Crossings) while they, along with many other companies, were operating on a structure fire in Simpson. Rescue 75 stood by from 12:30 A.M. - 4:30 A.M.

On the morning of June 16, 2008 Rescue 75 was dispatched to standby at Station 42 (Vandling) while they, along with many other companies, were operating on a second alarm structure fire on Main Street in Vandling. Rescue 75 stood by from 3:00 A.M. - 6:00 A.M. 
 
Storms make complete mess in Waymart!
On Tuesday night June 10, and early Wednesday morning, Station 75 and other assisting companies were very busy after the reign of thunderstorms came through the Waymart Area. Waymart and other crews were working from mid Tuesday evening until early Wednesday morning around 1:30 A.M. Chief 75 ran command in the fire hall and assisting us was Engine 43, Car 43, Mini 94, and Tanker 94. Overall, there were 17 trees down, one motor vehicle accident, a transformer fire, an automatic fire alarm, and FP 75 shut down some roads.

The 32 wins a trophy!
On July 30, 2008, Firefighters Steve Piotrowski and Jordan Thompson took our 1932 Chevy Fire Engine to a Car Show at the Ladore Lodge and Conference Center and returned with a "Best in Class" award.
 
Station 75 runs 3 car MVA with 43
On July 25, 2008, Rescue 75, Company 43, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatched for a 3 car MVA at the intersection of Route 296 and 247.
 
75 goes to Clifford and wins award!
On July 24, 2008 Tanker 75 went to the Clifford Parade and received the Best Appearing Tanker Award.

75 does Pumping and Gear Training

On Wednesday night, July 17, 2008, Some of station 75 took place in pumping training, while the rest of the members were educated on turnout gear and SCBA's.

Rescue 75 gets called to standby for 42

On Thursday night, July 10, 2008, Rescue 75 was dispatched to stand by at Station 42 while they were operating on a  barn fire in Elkdale. Rescue 75 was on standby from around 8 PM - 11:40 PM.
 
Station 75 does AIR BAG training
On Wednesday night, July 9, 2008, Station 75 did some training with the HURST air bags.
 
Station 75 runs 2 calls on Monday
On Monday July 7, 2008, Station 75 ran 2 calls. One being a MVA on Route 6 and Keen Lake Road, and the other being a fire alarm at The Waymart Hotel.
 
Station 75 does Rescue Training
On Wednesday night, July 2, 2008 Station 75 did some Vehicle Rescue Training at the Waymart Fire Hall.
75 gets new addition to the family!
On Thursday, August 21, 2008 Station 75 received a new addition to the Waymart Fire Company family, a 2008 Kawasaki Teryx. The unit was acquired through a special loaner program from Rusty Palmer Kawasaki in Honesdale. 
 
Deadly Motor Vehicle Accident
On Saturday night August 16, 2008, Station 75, Waymart EMS, Company 43, Company 94, Mobile 504, Mobile 9, and PSP to a one car motor vehicle accident with possible ejection on Little Keen Road. First arriving units on the scene reported a one car MVA with three patients ejected. One patient was pronounced dead at Wayne Memorial Hospital and the two other patients were flown to CMC in Scranton.
 
Station 75 in Firefighters Competition
On Sunday August 3, 2008, Station 75 participated in the 2008 Firefighters Competition that was held at the Wayne County Fair. All were tired, but all had fun!

75 holds first part of BVR Class
On Wednesday night, September 24, 2008, Station 75 held the first practical night in the BVR-Awareness Class. It was held at O'Connell's Junk Yard in Waymart. Lead instructor is PJ Fortuner. Other instructors, Trent Turner, Walt Turner, and Joe Snyter. Participants in the class are from Waymart, Honesdale, Beach Lake, Clifford, Fleetville,  and Cottage Hose. In the following weeks, the operations class and the technician class will be held here also, but the class roster is full. Please check back from week to week as each part of the class is held for new pictures and updates.

Rescue and Tanker go to Honesdale!!!!
On Thursday, September 18, 2008, Rescue 75 and Tanker 75 were dispatched to assist company Company 13 (Honesdale) on a structure fire. Company 13 was dispatched to a fully involved structure fire on East Street in the afternoon. Multiple companies were also dispatched. One house was completely to the ground and four others were destroyed. Rescue 75 was initially dispatched to stand-by by at station, but was brought into the scene. Later, the tanker was dispatched. The tanker dumped 5 loads of water. Also, Engine 24 (Greenfield) and Tanker 29 (Jefferson) stood by at our station while we were working. (Pictures below from Chief 13 and WNEP)
 
 
Gun Raffle gets great turnout!
On Saturday, September 13, 2008, Station 75 held their Inaugural Gun Raffle. Everything went very well and we would like to thank all who came to support us!
 
Labor Day weekend brings two MVA's, a fully involved structure fire, and our Coin Drop!
On Labor Day Weekend, Station 75 was very busy. Friday and Saturday was our annual Coin Drop, which we thank the public very much for their donations. The first call was on Saturday, August 30, 2008, this was a two car MVA with entrapment on Farview Mountain. The second call was on Sunday August 31, 2008, this was a one car MVA on Cannan Road with no patient found. Finally, later on Sunday, we got dispatched along with Company 43 and their first alarm to a structure fire on Lizzy Lane off of Elk Lake Drive. First arriving 75 unit on scene reported structure was fully involved. Crews worked until early Monday morning cleaning up from the blaze. Chief 43A had command. Also,  Monday September 1, 2008, Station 75 and Waymart EMS were dispatched to a possible car fire on Route 6 near Keen Lake. Lieutenant 75 cancelled all units.
Station 75 does lots for Fire Prevention Week!
During this week, Fire Prevention Week, Station 75 spent all of Thursday and Friday doing various Fire Prevention Presentations all throughout Waymart.
 
Lifelight lands in Waymart!
On Friday, October 10, 2008, Station 75 was dispatched to set up a landing zone for Waymart Ambulance.
 
Station 75 gets 2 early morning MVA's
On the morning of Monday, October 6, 2008, Station 75, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatched to two MVA's between the hours of 3am and 6 am. One was on the Owego Turnpike and the other on Route 296 South.
 
Fire Prevention Breakfast goes well
On Sunday, October 5, 2008, Station 75 held their annual Fire Prevention Week breakfast buffet. We would like to thank the community for their support. During this breakfast we teach the kids about fire safety and show them around the trucks. Later this week we will be visiting the elementary schools and doing other fire prevention activities around the community. Thank you for visiting the website and for all the support.

Congratulations are in order for 7 members from the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company who successfully completed the Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician Course. This course was a 16 hour course along with two other 16 hour courses that were pre-requisites. Members who completed this and obtained the certification were Kim Derrick, Billy Jenkins, Jim Masgula, Cliff Nixon, Steve Piotrowski, Mike Sprague, and Justin Zalewski. These seven members plus our other active members add up to a total of 14 BVR-Technicians in the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company.

 

75 gets dispatched with 43 box!
On the night of November 28, 2008, Station 75 was dispatched along with Company 43 (Browndale) and box 43-06, for an activated fire alarm at 49 Voyce Lane in Clinton Township. Rescue and Tanker 75 were first arriving units on scene with Chief 75 assuming command. Crews from 75 checked exterior of house and found a light smoke condition coming from the chimney. Crews from 75 made entry into the residence and found small fire contained to the chimney. Crews from 75, Company 43, and Company 94 remained on scene until problem was fixed and house was ventilated.
 
75 ATV dispatched for its first call
On Saturday, November 29, 2008, 75 ATV was dispatched for its first call since it has been in service. 75 Brush and ATV were dispatched to assist Waymart EMS and Company 1 for a hunter that fell out of a tree stand in the woods off of Stovepipe Road. Pictured below is our new RUV or known as "75 ATV"

 

Turkey Party goes well
On the night of Saturday November 22, 2008, Station 75 held their annual Turkey Party. We ended up with a great crowd and we would like to thank everybody who helped out and supported the event. (Click here for more pictures)

On Sunday, November 2, 2008, Station 75 completed the Operations part of the Basic Vehicle Rescue class that was held at O'Connell's Junk Yard. 75 completes first part of BVR Class
On Wednesday night, October 1, 2008, Station 75 completed the BVR-A Class. Again, it was held at O'Connell's Junk Yard. In two weeks the operations and the technician class will be starting, so check back for more information and pictures.

Station 75 gets two calls!
On Friday, December 5 2008, Station 75 was dispatched for two back to back calls. The calls were as followed:
 
--Station 75, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatches for a two car MVA on Route 6 near American Steel Classics.
 
--Station 75 was dispatched to assist Waymart EMS, Mobile 9, and Station 43 for a female that was lost in the woods off of Elk Lake Drive in Clinton Township. 75 Brush and ATV arrived on scene, crews from 75 and Waymart EMS entered the woods. Female was found and was driven out by family member, she suffered from minor injuries. All 43 units were cancelled.
